Overview – pinging for indexing and extra traffic

In other SEO strategies we employ, like press release submission, we create backlinks pointing to our client’s website which help them rank better in Google’s results pages.  Google however may take some time to find these new links or may not find them at all. If Google doesn’t find and index these links they will give our client’s website no benefit.

So we use a technique called ‘pinging’ which is the most effective way of getting backlinks found and indexed by Google.

Pinging involves making certain websites (feed aggregators and directories) aware that some new content exists. These websites then make Google aware there is new content out there and encourage Google to visit, crawl and index this new content.

As well as the benefits of getting Google to index the new content, people often keep their eye these aggregator websites for new content. They may well the republish or link to the new content. This is especially true of news worthy content such as press releases.

The Process
After a backlinking campaign there will be a list of URLs which contain backlinks, for example a list of places where a press release has been published or directories you website has been published too.  Create a txt file containing these links As shown below.

notepad

Go to http://www.bulkping.com/ . Copy and paste the list of URLs from the notepad document onto the website (note – when you first click on Bulkping.com another browser tab will open as they make money from advertising – just click back onto the bulkping.com tab). These links should include the http:// part of the address.

Add in the keywords you are targeting ton the ‘Keyword OR Title section’
Enter the captcha image.

Read the instructions on the page – it should be straight forward to use. You should end up with a screen looking similar to the one below.

notepad2

Once you have entered all the details correctly click the Submit button.
Bulkping will then go off and do its thing. DO NOT close the Bulkping tab or the browser until it has finished – this may take some minutes.

Next go to http://freerssfeedgenerators.com/ . Here we will create a RSS feed containing all the URLs in the document.

Fill in the online form:
•    give your feed a title – these should include the keywords you are targeting
•    enter the URL  of the clients website
•    write a brief description – again include keywords
•    write a second description – again include keywords
•    copy and paste the list of links into the links area –see the screen dump below for an example of a completed form
•    Click the generate RSS feed and wait
Don’t worry about making the description great English prose.  Just some keyword rich text that you think appears like natural writing. This bit is up to you. Let your imagination run wild ;-)

notepad3

It may well take a minute or two to create the RSS feed depending on how may links there are. Be patient. You should get a screen like the one below eventually.

notepad4

Right click on the link next the text ‘Your RSS feed is available at’ and select Copy Link Location – this will copy the URL of the RSS feed to your clipboard. Now go to http://www.pingler.com/.

Again fill in the online form supplying a title – again use the keywords you are targeting. Enter the URL of the RSS feed you have just created - it is in your clipboard so in the URL field just right click and paste.  Enter the captcha code and click the friendly orange Ping button.

The page will redirect showing the results of the ping as they happen. Below the results your can enter in an email to receive the pinging results. Enter This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it so that I will receive the results.

If my instructions don’t make sense you can always watch the How to Ping Using Pingler.com video onPingler.com’s homepage.
